About Skyler Estates

These wonderful apartments are located on 40 acres approximately one mile east of Charleston on the campus of the award-winning Greenhurst Nursing Center, owned and operated by the Schaffer family for almost 42 years. These apartments are for tenants looking to simplify their lives---no more yard work, no more bills to pay, no more taxes, no more replacing worn-out parts, and no more worries about the rising utility bills. The cost is all inclusive.

Each apartment includes all appliances, including washer and dryer, microwave, your choice of electric or gas range, and trash compactor. Each apartment has a gas burning stove in the living room for added heat and ambiance. Each apartment also includes a state-of-the-art security system that monitors for heat/smoke/ fire/EMS and burglaries. A "safe room" has been added to your garage for extra safety. All utilities, including cable TV, are covered in your costs except for the telephone. There are no hidden monthly charges. Daily lunch deliveries are available through the Charleston Senior Citizens Center, for a nominal donation, Monday through Friday.

You may now have fun family gatherings in out brand new club house! The club house is fully furnished and includes all the necessities including oven, refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, bathroom, seating, an outdoor grill, deck, outdoor bar, and more.

Arrangements have been made with CV's Family Foods to deliver groceries to your apartment on Fridays if you don't want to get out. The local pharmacy can deliver your prescriptions. Many local restaurants now offer home delivery to Skyler Estates as well.

The Nursing Center is easily within walking distance and tenants are invited to participate in a wide range of activities that are constantly going on in the Center. Volunteers are a very valuable commodity in the Center and your level of participation is solely up to you. Tenants may use the beauty shop on the premises.

Future construction will also involve our "Phase II" in personal care...an "assisted living" center...a facility similar to the Nursing Center...including its own dining room and personal care staff for the time in your life where you can no longer remain in the "independent-living" apartments and need more care. Residents will remain in this center until acute care is necessary, then arrangements for transfer to the Nursing Center will be made.

Independent-Living Apartments

-Two bedroom/2 bath has 1,000 square feet of living space, including your own garage and front porch and cost $1,100 per month.

-One bedroom/1 bath has 750 square feet of living space and also includes your own garage and front porch and cost $800 per month.

The campus also contains a lovely pond with its own gazebo and picnic area, including regular and butane stoves for your pleasure. The pond has been stocked with bass, bream and crappie.
